Class Attire/Guidelines

Note: As always, please see full policies in the Academy of Ballet Fantastique Handbook, and let us know if you have questions!

Ballet Brilliante & Andante

Girls’ Class Uniform

Note: No warm-ups, jewelry, or skirts to be worn in class.

  • Black leotard
  • Footed Ballet Pink tights
  • Pink split-sole ballet slippers (canvas or leather) with elastic and ribbons.
  • Hair: Neat ballet bun or other style with hair pulled off the neck, and bangs pinned straight back.
  • Ballet Andante Note: Need Pilates/Yoga mat for Conditioning classes.
  • Performances: Theatrical Pink tights with seam (check with teacher)

Boys’ Class Uniform: Brilliante & Andante

  • White cap-sleeve leotard
  • Black tights
  • White split-sole ballet slippers with elastic (white socks)

Ballet Bravo I & II; Ballet Pavlova

Note about equipment: Dancers should also have a Pilates/yoga mat for Conditioning Classes/Floor Barre, and a notebook for taking notes about choreography, corrections, etc.

Girls’ Class Uniform

Note: Warm-ups or skirts to be worn only during warm-up exercises. No jewelry.

  • Bravo I: Black leotard
  • Bravo II: Burgundy leotard
  • Pavlova: Any solid-colored leotard
  • Convertible Ballet Pink tights
  • Pink split-sole ballet slippers (canvas or leather)
  • Character shoes and character skirt (available through online companies like Discount Dance Supply or Dance Distributors)
  • Pointe shoes (fitted by a dance professional, and worn with Artistic Director approval only) with elastic and ribbons
  • Hair: Neat ballet bun or other style off the neck, with bangs pinned straight back off the forehead
  • Performances: Capezio European Pink tights with seam; nude under-costume camisole leotard
  • Pointe/Variations, Demonstrations, Exams: Short black ballet skirt (10–12”)

Boys’ Class Uniform: Bravo I and up

  • White cap-sleeve leotard
  • Gray or black tights; dance belt
  • White split-sole ballet slippers with elastic (white socks)
