Experience Ballet Fantastique's fresh perspective, unmatched creativity, great taste in music, and dramatic prowess. Comprised of seven stunning dancers and co-directed by mother-daughter team Donna and Hannah Bontrager, Ballet Fantastique presents expressive, passionate ballet productions full of sizzle and spice on stages across Oregon, the Northwest, and now, internationally.
Founded in 2000 and called "enchanting, haunting and delightful" (The Register-Guard) and "la creme de la creme" (Eugene Weekly), Ballet Fantastique has worked in partnership with choirs, opera and soloist vocalists, symphony and chamber orchestras, literary and visual artists, and composers. Noteworthy collaborations and invitations include work with Eugene Symphony, Trio Voronezh, the Oregon Mozart Players, Northwest composer Jeremy DeKyle Schropp, Karin Clarke Gallery, and the Oregon Shakespeare Festival. Ballet Fantastique's all-original choreography infuses ballet with diverse new style, brave musical choices (from tango to Metallica), and passionate expression.
The 2011-2012 Season is our most DARING yet, and holds exciting firsts for Ballet Fantastique, from collaborations with world-class musicians performing with ballet for the first time, to our first invited featured performance at the Northwest Booking Conference in October 2011, and finally culminating in a tour to Italy in July 2012.
