Babes in Toyland Audition
Tuesday, July 30, 2019
Ballet Fantastique is auditioning youth roles for the upcoming production of Babes in Toyland.
4-4:30 pm: Orientation/registration
4:30-5:30 pm: Audition
$15 audition fee for community students, $5 audition fee for current BFan students
In Ballet Fantastique’s Babes in Toyland, Choreographer-Producers Donna Marisa and Hannah Bontrager reimagine a lost holiday classic with retro-glam choreography, vivacious style, and the company’s contagiously magical wit and whimsy. Victor Herbert’s original madcap fairytale mashup collides with hot jazz—played live by the incredible Swing Shift Orchestra—and splashy, genre-defying dance, filtered through the surreal sensibility of Fleischer Studios. A new ballet for the young and the young at heart. Live music: Swing Shift Orchestra plays Duke Ellington’s Nutcracker.

IMPORTANT AUDITION NOTES:
Casting is at the sole discretion of BFan’s artistic leadership team.
Dancers should be aware that most roles in the Babes in Toyland production will be cast by height as well as ability—Ballet Fantastique’s artistic team is looking for a uniform size among all chosen performers for an "identical look." Ballet Fantastique’s Wardrobe Mistress will be present to take dancer measurements at the auditions!
Not all dancers may receive a role in this production, but there will be many future opportunities!
A schedule of rehearsal dates will be provided to you at the time of audition.
Dancers should review all rehearsal and performance dates prior to committing to the performance opportunity: No rehearsals that have already been announced are optional; dancers must be available for all rehearsals already scheduled. Additional rehearsal dates may be added at the discretion of the Artistic Director—these additional rehearsals will be scheduled according to student dancer availability to the best of our ability.
There is a performance fee to participate in this production, to help offset the cost of producing an all-original project with custom costumes for each dancer.
Backstage support volunteers are urgently needed; if you can help, please contact us.
