Meet Sophia

Sophia began her dance training under the direction of Elizabeth Godfrey at the Berkeley City Ballet School in Berkeley, California. In 2018 she graduated from the Conservatory of Dance at the State University of New York at Purchase College with a BFA in Dance and Performance. At SUNY Purchase, Sophia had the privilege to perform in Balanchine’s Four Temperaments as the third theme, and Concerto Barocco as the principal female dancer, and also performed in works by up-and-coming choreographers including Michelle Thompson-Ulerich, Stuart Loungeway, Melanie Ramos, Nicole Caruana, Erin Landers, and Anna Hooper. Joining Ballet Fantastique for the 2018/2019 season, she has performed corps and soloist roles, including the roles of Ino in The Odyssey and of Brutus in Cleopatra. Sophia also, occasionally, guides exploration based contemporary ballet classes for Ballet Fantastique academy students. Sophia loves challenging her boundaries; exploring the vulnerability of artistry through dance and movement.
