Meet Ella
VITA
Ella Martin is from Saint Louis, Missouri, and trained at Saint Louis Ballet under the direction of Gen Horiuchi. She furthered her training through intensives at the School of American Ballet, American Ballet Theater, Royal Danish Ballet, and Miami City Ballet.
Ella began dancing corps de ballet roles alongside Saint Louis Ballet’s professional company at the age of 15 and subsequently became one of the company’s inaugural trainees. Throughout her traineeship, Ella performed in full length ballets such as Cinderella, Giselle, Swan Lake, The Sleeping Beauty, and The Nutcracker. She also performed in neoclassical ballets by George Balanchine, Gen Horiuchi, and Peter Martins as well as contemporary new works by Michael Burke, CiCi Houston, and Christine Settembrino. In 2024, she had the honor of performing in the world premiere of Raffaella, a full-length narrative ballet choreographed by Claire Kretzschmar. In 2026, Ella had the privilege of dancing with Deos Contemporary Ballet under the direction of Tess Sinke for their summer performance series.
