A fecund carpet, an asp, an empire almost lost to a pair of kohl-rimmed eyes. Cleopatra VII—a luminous Hellenistic queen in an Egyptian kingdom in a Roman world, juggling personae to shock, awe, love, rule, and endure—inspires Ballet Fantastique’s defiant and spellbinding contemporary ballet premiere, set to the Levantine modern electronic sound of blockbuster musicians Sidecar Tommy and Eenor Wildeboar from Beats Antique, playing live at the Hult Center.
