Meet Emily
Emily began her training and cultivated her love of dance at local studios in Portland, Oregon. In addition to her own training, Emily enjoyed working with the younger dancers at the school and acted as an assistant and substitute teacher to many classes. Emily had the opportunity to attend the State Street Summer Intensive and Northwest Dance Intensive in addition to training with local teachers such as Artur Sultanov and the late John Magnus.
After graduating high school, Emily moved to Salt Lake City to attend the University of Utah. While earning her honors degree in biology, Emily continued to pursue dance outside of the University by training full time at a local studio, Salt Lake City Ballet. While there, she became a member of Eastern Arts, where she learned movement styles and choreography from different cultures ranging across Asia and North Africa, and helped spread cultural understanding through performances. During her four years in Utah, Emily had the opportunity to study with many fantastic instructors, attend summer intensives at the University of Utah, and even travel to the university’s South Korean campus for a Vaganova summer intensive. After graduating in 2020, Emily moved back to the Pacific Northwest, and eventually to Eugene. Emily now dances as much as she can while working in the biotech industry and is very excited to once again have the opportunity to work with students and share her love of dance.
