Meet Esperanza

Esperanza began her training and danced professionally under the direction of Aida Villoch, former prima ballerina and Artistic Director of Ballet de Camaguey, Cuba. Growing up, Esperanza spent her summers at many prestigious ballet intensives, including Orlando Ballet, San Francisco Ballet, Milwaukee Ballet, and Oklahoma City Ballet.

In 2015, Esperanza moved to Brussels, Belgium, and worked with Menia Martinez, director of Studio Maison Bejart. Under Ms. Martinez’s direction, she performed many choreographic works from the late Maurice Bejart. In 2016, Esperanza moved back to the United States and performed under the direction of Ms. Villoch. She performed many soloist roles in many classical ballets, including: Le Corsaire, Paquita, The Nutcracker, Grand Pas Classique, and Swan Lake.  

Esperanza has also had the opportunity to perform as an apprentice with Dissonance Dance Theatre in Washington, D.C., under the direction of Shawn Short. With Dissonance, Esperanza performed in choreographic works including "VIEWMASTER, TIME=NO MAN" and "Unsettled" by St. Louis choreographer Kameron N. Saunders.

Esperanza joined Ballet Fantastique in 2018, where she has starred in many soloist roles, including Cupid (As You Like It: A Wild West Ballet, 2018 performances), Athena (The Odyssey: The Ballet, with live looping violinist Cullen Vance, 2019 performances), Naughty Doll (Babes in Toyland with Swing Shift Jazz Orchestra, world premiere 2018), and Iras in the world premiere of Cleopatra with Beats Antique (2019). She was featured as Mrs. Fezziwig in Ballet Fantastique’s American Christmas Carol: A Ballet Movie (premiere December 2020), a co-production with Bronson Studios.

Aside from training and performing, Esperanza finds great pleasure and excitement in teaching young and experienced artists her love and passion for the art. Esperanza is also fluent in Spanish as she grew up speaking it both at home and at the ballet studio.
